Established by Ramez Habash in 2008, IDEAL for Developing Cultural and Tourism Routes strives to promote local tourism, women’s rights and celebrate the local community’s pride. The organization focuses on developing micro businesses that will help communities earn their livelihoods while promoting tourism in different clusters.
IDEAL’s endeavors first bore fruit in the hilly town of Ajloun and the families in this area became part of the Families in Tourism initiative (FIT) and the LIV-E Model (Lifelong Learning, Informal and Vocational Training model to Enhance community participation in the tourism sector). The initiatives garnered the community’s support through the engagement of women in income generating projects while providing the women with vocational training and hands on work experience.
