John Tomlinson held various positions in communications at Synergos, including as Director, into May 2026. In this work, he has helped share Synergos’ learning about leadership, collaboration, philanthropy, and grantmaking institutions though a range of media, tools, and events. He also has helped create and share information about our organization’s impact to strengthen our fundraising, recruitment, and partnership development.
Prior to focusing on communications, JT helped administer several Synergos programs, including supporting the creation of grantmaking foundations in Africa and Latin America and managing a program of exchanges between nonprofit leaders in the United States and countries in the Global South. He coordinated policy research and outreach on collaborative approaches to development and on cooperation between foundations and foreign aid agencies.
He also co-organized our University for a Night/David Rockefeller Bridging Leadership Awards event for many years.
JT holds an MS in library and information science from the Pratt Institute.
