Majid joined Medtronic in 2012 to lead the Middle East & Africa region, later expanding his role to include Central and Eastern Europe and Russia. Under his leadership, Medtronic has built robust local capabilities, forged partnerships with governments and healthcare systems, and implemented transformative strategies to expand access to care across emerging markets. In 2013, he relocated Medtronic's regional headquarters from Beirut to Dubai, establishing it as a strategic global hub for healthcare innovation and market development.
With over 25 years of experience in operations, services, and medical technology, Majid has a strong record of advancing healthcare delivery and business growth. Before joining Medtronic, he served as General Manager for GE Healthcare (GEHC) in Saudi Arabia, where he received several President's Awards for performance and innovation. Earlier in his career, he led and co-founded companies in distribution, turnkey solutions, digital platforms, AI, cybersecurity, food technology, and construction, gaining extensive entrepreneurial experience before transitioning to the corporate world. Majid is globally recognized for his leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion, earning Medtronic's prestigious Wallin Award (2014). Majid is also a frequent keynote speaker on leadership, innovation, healthcare transformation, and diversity in the workplace.
A strong advocate for value-based healthcare, Majid has championed outcome-driven care models that link provider payments to patient results, leveraging AI and data analytics to enhance efficiency and quality. Under his direction, Medtronic has expanded initiatives such as the AI-powered Sugar.IQ diabetes assistant, partnerships with the UN to combat non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and new diabetes clinics in Saudi Arabia in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. He has also overseen strategic acquisitions such as Mazor Robotics and the Abraaj Group Healthcare portfolio (now Evercare) to advance innovation, accessibility, and affordability in global health.
