Shruti Shibulal is the Executive Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at Tamara Leisure Experiences. Shruti strives to create thoughtful business models that harmonise people, planet and profit. Under her value-driven leadership, TLE has grown to become synonymous with responsible tourism. Between 2008 and 2018, Shruti served as Director, and subsequently as CEO and Director from 2018 to 2025. During this period, she led a 10x growth of the organisation as well as the design and institutionalisation of Tamara’s comprehensive sustainability policies.
The organisation’s ecosystem of sustainable initiatives closely integrate climate resilient policies including green building practices, wildlife preservation, and optimised use of resources among other factors. Tamara’s culture and operations also combine to address three key arenas that stand especially close to Shruti’s personal vision: gender parity, human capital building and meaningful job creation to uplift local economies. TLE operates three distinct hotel brands in South India as well as independent business hotels in Germany.
Shruti was named a Young Global Leader of The World Economic Forum in 2017 and served as a Co-lead on the Responsible Destinations workstream of the Global Future Council for Sustainable Tourism for two years. For her continued notable contributions towards building responsible hospitality models, Shruti was named among Fortune India’s 40 under 40 in 2022, 2023, and 2024 consecutively. She was listed on Fortune India’s 2024 list of Most Powerful Women. She was conferred the title of Woman of the Year (2023) by Hospitality by News18 and also recognised as "Entrepreneur of the Year" by the International Hospitality Council (2022).
Shruti serves as a Trustee for all Foundations of the Shibulal Family Philanthropic Initiatives, which provide educational opportunities and healthcare assistance to underprivileged sections of society. Shruti is a Trustee of ATREE - Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and Environment. In 2019, Shruti launched SAATHIYA - a hospitality skilling program which enables young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to become employable within the restaurant and hotel industries. Focusing on industry-relevant skilling, building careers, and creating a community, SAATHIYA has already shown positive results in improving the lives and prospects of its graduates.
In 2025, Shruti was inducted to serve on the Board of Synergos and is also a select member of the Green Economy Council, a consortium under the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) which assembles purpose-united leaders to facilitate private sector transition strategies to build a circular and resource-resilient economy in India.
