Abstract

This is a cross-case analysis paper from the series Process and Techniques of Foundation-Building: Experiences from Eight Organizations in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

It examines the motivations, strategies and practices of the founders of eight foundations and draws more general lessons from these experiences.

The preparation of the series of case studies was made possible by support from the Ford Foundation, the Aspen Institute, the C.S. Mott Foundation and the Compton Foundation.
