Abstract
This powerpoint by Victoria Garchitorena, Managing Director and President of the Ayala Foundation, showcases one model of asset building in the Philippines. The presentation illustrates how the programs helps alleviate poverty while promoting social justice. In the Phillipines, rural areas, ancestral lands and urban areas are homes to many families and workers who have no control over their land or housing. The government has responded with various reform programs and shelter financing acts but asset builiding from local foundations can play a large role by empowering local community members to stand up for their rights.
