Abstract

This powerpoint presentation, by Senior Fellow David Smith, illustrates the advantages and strategies to establishing Environmental Funds for conservation. He highlights four essential features for success of environmental funds, one being the support of a mixed public-private sector mechanism that functions beyond government control. He emphasizes that a simple structure and concept pursued over the long term is effecient. Smith also shows how partnerships can not only be beneficial to the community but can also increase accountability while staying independent of one unilateral control group.
