Port Tawfik Film is a multi-disciplinary cinema resource for Egypt founded by Tamer Mahmoud in 2011. As a filmmaker, Tamer had seen the power of storytelling as a tool to help people understand themselves and develop their innate talents. Thus, he started the Port Tawfik Cinema School to teach the craft of cinematic storytelling as a practical method of unearthing and developing an individual’s talents and self-worth through effective teaching and self-expression.
Port Tawfik Film’s primary function is as an independent production company for film, television, and music. Tamer has worked to lower the barriers to entry in the field, and thus Tawfik Film offers the equipment and staff necessary to help creative individuals realize their ambitions. Additionally, Tamer opened a School of Cinema offering and trainings and workshops for aspiring film makers. Most prominently, Tawfik Film is currently offering a six-month documentary film course for preparatory and secondary school students in several providences through the country, fostering greater equality of opportunity between different regions.
