Ahmed Mahmoud Hamed ElHefnawy

Synergos Social Entrepreneur & Founder, Knowledge for All Foundation

Ahmed ElHefnawy is one of the founders of Knowledge for All Foundation (KFA). KFA targets to overcome the spread ignorance in the Egyptian society as a foundation of sustainable development. The organization strategy is based on four initiatives: Knowledge Hook, Knowledge for Children, Public Translation, and Creative Knowledge. The base of the strategy is the collaboration in the general modern knowledge via developing a set of innovative continually evolving mechanisms, notably Knowledge Map, Knowledge Compass, Knowledge Path, Knowledge Box, and Knowledge Bourse. These mechanisms enable handling of the weak knowledge status both at the individual and the existing social system, especially the confusion and limbo resulting from knowledge explosion after centuries of knowledge scarcity.

These mechanisms enable a continuous knowledge development for each of us based on his capabilities, needs, and environment. KFA stresses the availability and accessibility to all regardless of their economic or social status in order to raise the efficiency and effectiveness of the human resources, which is the most important resource of any society. The methodology is based on the activation of the curiosity instinct to build a contemporary human mind.

The initiative of the Knowledge Hook started in 2014. Its most strategic objective is to develop 25,000 knowledge guides (maarefgy) by the end of 2017. This is currently being implemented with the Ministry of Youth and Sports via a national program, starting with 5 core topics from the 80 covered by Knowledge Map. The five topics are Knowledge, Life, Management, Thinking, and Communication. The 25K knowledge guide will target to enable 20 million young people (18-35 years) to acquire the knowledge map core by the end of 2018 via knowledge halls in youth centers among others, internet sites, and mobile games.

ElHefnawy believes that general knowledge is the basis of building a modern human being. He relies on groups of young people in KFA activities. The workshop starts with interactive knowledge sessions and through the use of multiple schemes and technologies to access the high degree of interaction in accordance with the principles of Education 3.0. This enables the transformation of the education process to a continuous learning and therefore contributes to a real development based on equality and limit extremism, ignorance and poverty.
