Abstract
As part of the 90th birthday celebrations for Nelson Mandela, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of Liberia, gave the Sixth Annual Nelson Mandela Lecture. In her remarks, Mrs. Johnson Sirleaf spoke in support of democracy in Zimbabwe and for the advancement of development and peace through the Africa. She pointed to the experience of Mr. Mandela, and of other leaders on the continent, as sources of hope for social and economic progress.
Mrs. Johnson Sirleaf is a former member of Synergos' Board of Directors and, like Mr. Mandela, a recipient of the David Rockefeller Bridging Leadership Award.
