Abstract

This powerpoint by Senior Fellow and Synergos Senior Advisor, Shannon St. John, illustrates the components that are necessary for a successful community foundation to be inclusive of the community and sustainable. St. John discusses how the roles of chairperson, Board, CEO, local environment, and local resources can contribute to the impact and sustainability of a community foundation. She notes since community foundation are independent entities separate from the control of other organizations, governments and donors, it is all the more important for foundations to have a sound and consistent mission to stand by.
