Abstract
This is a paper prepared by the Coady Institute for the Asset-Based Community Development Workshop, organized by Synergos on Februray 21, 2002 in Bangkok, Thailand.
It gives an overiew of the asset-based community development (ABCD) approach, which is based on the principles of:
- Appreciating and mobilising individual and community talents, skills and assets (rather than focusing on problems and needs)
- Community-driven development rather than development driven by external agencies.
The paper describes the ways in which ABCD efforts are facilitated.
