Senior Fellows Intern (Graduate) - Peer Consultancies & Exchanges

The Senior Fellows Network is comprised of distinguished international civil society leaders committed to collaborative efforts that address the underlying causes of poverty and inequity. The program links the civil society leaders in a worldwide learning, service and action network. The network aims to strengthen the capacity and opportunities for these leaders to be catalysts and play a major role in partnerships that address the systemic causes of poverty and promote sustainable social change. Through the three-year fellowship, Fellows have the opportunity to enhance their skills, knowledge, and expand their network. Majority of program activities are centered around peer-to-peer support and sharing of knowledge and skills.

Job Description and Responsibilities

The Senior Fellows Program seeks an intern coordinator in the area of Peer Consultancies & Exchanges. The overarching goal is to create opportunities that maximize the development of skills, knowledge, leadership and institutional capacity building of the Fellows through executing the Fellow-to-Fellows consulting sessions and exchanges. Specifically, the intern will be responsible for the following:

  • Online and phone peer consulting sessions.
  • In-person peer consulting sessions at Fellows’ meetings.
  • Coordinating peer exchanges among the Fellows.

    For each of these the necessary activities include:

  • Coordination of the logistics (communication with the Fellows, scheduling, travel arrangement, billing, reimbursements), including coordination of the budget with the Senior Fellows program manager.
  • Preparation of the Terms of Reference, including setting of the goals and activities of the exchange/consultancy.
  • Liaising with the Fellows to deliver reports and knowledge products from the exchange/consultancy.
  • Evaluation of the exchange/consultancy.
  • Qualifications

    • Graduate student in non-profit management, development, policy, international studies or related field.
    • Detail oriented and highly organized.
    • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
    • Excellent ability to listen and assess needs.
    • Creativity to deliver service in the most effective and efficient manner.
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

    Length of Internship

    A time commitment of 20 hours per week for 4 months in the following periods:

    • April 1 - July 31
    • August 1 - November 30
    • December 1 - March 31

    Longer periods and hours are possible. Please note that this internship is unpaid, but reimbursement for public transportation costs will be provided.
