Partnerships Intern

The Synergos Institute is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of effective, sustainable and locally based solutions to poverty. Working with partners, Synergos' mission is to mobilize resources and bridge social and economic divides to reduce poverty and increase equity around the world.

Synergos' Partnerships program aims to address challenges by assembling inclusive partnerships -- across government, business, civil society, communities -- that transcend traditional social boundaries and problem-solving methods. Current initiatives focus on issues including child malnutrition in India, HIV/AIDS in South Africa, improving lives of Aboriginal communities in Canada and strengthening public health leadership in Southern Africa.

The program seeks an intern with a time commitment of 15-20 hours per week. Interns are welcome to participate broadly in Synergos activities, including all-staff meetings, staff presentations and meetings with external guests.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a range of research support that may include: literature review, statistical and other background on issues and regions, profiles of potential partner individuals and organizations,
  • Organize, maintain, and sometimes create, information systems, such as topical e-libraries and project stakeholder databases.
  • Draft notes from internal meetings
  • Provide administrative support as needed -- may include preparing meeting materials, writing up meeting notes, etc.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may emerge over the course of the internship.

Qualifications

  • Committed to Synergos' mission and values
  • Deep knowledge of and experience in international development issues
  • Strong research, organization and presentation skills
  • Experienced in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.
