Research Intern, Global Philanthropists Circle

The Synergos Institute is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of effective, sustainable and locally based solutions to poverty around the globe. For almost two decades The Synergos Institute has been working to build and strengthen philanthropic institutions internationally.

The Global Philanthropists Circle (GPC) is a dynamic network of leading international philanthropists dedicated to eliminating poverty and increasing equity worldwide. It brings together many of the most respected individuals and families from every part of the globe who are committed to using their time, influence and resources to address some of the world's most significant problems.

The Circle provides exceptional opportunities for members to advance their own philanthropic projects by drawing on the advice, experience, relationships and collaboration of other members. In addition, the Circle supports initiatives to work together with international development agencies, foundations and other philanthropic organizations.

Founded in 2001 by Peggy Dulany, Synergos' Chair, and her father, David Rockefeller, the Circle now includes more than 65 families from 23 countries who recognize the increased impact they might have, as individuals and collectively, on initiatives to reduce poverty globally.

Duties

To provide integral support to the Global Philanthropists Circle by:

  • Conducting research on issues related to private philanthropy and successful approaches to poverty alleviation.
  • Assisting the organization and execution of member events and trips.
  • Collect and enter data for the membership database
  • Assist with office work, such as filing and mailings.
  • Be an active participant in the overall work of Synergos.

The intern must be able to tackle tasks with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Graduate-level student studying international affairs, public policy, non-profit management or related field
  • Superior research skills
  • Outstanding ability to categorize, organize, and present research
  • Fluency in English
  • Interest and commitment to international development, poverty alleviation, or non-profit management

Commitment

10-15 hours per week, but would welcome more.

Please note there is no stipend for this internship.
