About The Synergos Institute
Synergos is a global nonprofit organization working to reduce poverty and promote equity and social justice around the world. Synergos brings people together across all sectors to change the systems that keep people in poverty. Synergos also provides support to remarkable leaders and leadership networks promoting social justice.
During its 20 year history, Synergos has worked collaboratively with leaders and leading organizations in civil society, philanthropy, government and business to expand the opportunities and fair treatment for people who cannot meet their basic human needs, do not enjoy fundamental human rights or have the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Synergos convenes, facilitates and supports systems-changing, cross-sector partnerships addressing issues such as HIV/AIDS, under-nutrition, public health delivery systems, Indigenous People's rights and support for the advancement of slum dweller communities. Synergos has major projects in Africa, India, Latin America, the Middle East and North America. Synergos also hosts the Global Philanthropists Circle, a peer learning network for eminent philanthropists and social investors and the Synergos Senior Fellows Network, a group of accomplished and innovative social activists.
Due to Synergos' deep knowledge of developing country contexts, as well as a set of longstanding relationships with key government, business, civil society and community groups across the globe, Synergos is often called upon to serve as a strategic advisor to corporate clients seeking to operate in developing countries. The Institute is well-positioned to advise corporations in a number of areas, including:
- Deepening corporate understanding of developing country markets and society
- Enabling corporations to create innovative "hybrid" models that generate business and social development
- Cultivating positive corporate-community relationships
- Developing brands through creative social engagement practices.
Synergos is headquartered in New York and has offices in Southern Africa. It also has a diverse board of directors and its staff have experience working for NGOs, government agencies, international organizations and businesses.
The Position
Synergos is seeking a full or part-time intern to assist in developing and implementing our Corporate Services. We are seeking an extraordinary, highly accomplished and values-driven graduate student (MBA preferred or policy/international affairs students with substantive management consulting backgrounds) to assist in delivering consulting engagements for clients, identify internal or external resource persons or institutions to assist in service delivery, monitor and evaluate project activities, develop knowledge management processes and practices, etc. Please note that this is an unpaid position and that overseas travel may be required.
