Saeed Abu Al Hassan

Synergos Social Entrepreneur & Founder, Irbid Youth Volunteers

Saeed Abu Al Hassan, one of our youngest Social Innovators, has created a rapidly growing network of youth in Jordan dedicated to social change. Irbid Youth Volunteers is a network of youth aged 18-26 which aims to train, support, and promote activists interested in promoting social entrepreneurship, community development, and other volunteer initiatives.

Saeed started this network as a means to engage Irbid’s large student population, numbering over 70,000, and the lack of active roles for youth in the city. Select individuals participate in an 8 month training and support program which has already spawned 12 initiatives, over 100 projects, engaged 1,000 volunteers, and served 20,000 people in Irbid. The training program helps introduce youth to aspects of project management, while simultaneously developing their leadership and organizational skills. More experienced members of the network are thus encouraged to pass on valuable knowledge and experience to the next generation of youth activists. As a result, graduates of the program become a more effective force for change in the city, the region, and the country at large.
