Giving a voice to individuals with disabilites

The Butterfly Foundation advocates for a more inclusive world. In the truest sense, Marilena di Coste is adding voice to those with disabilities and advocating for a community where the views, opinions, abilities and expertise of people with disabilities are valued and respected. A non-for-profit pioneer advocacy service, The Butterfly Foundation disseminates information on rights, entitlements and services available in the UAE, allowing people with disabilities to make informed choices, find solutions and access much needed support.

With the help of The Butterfly Foundation, blind student Dana Nashawati graduated from the Canadian University of Dubai with an honors degree in business administration and human resource management.

Tailored to the needs of the individual, services such as health, rehabilitation, social, education and employment are made more accessible and are better understood. The Butterfly Foundation overcomes the fragmentation of information in the disability field by creating a central hub. The service opens its space to people with disabilities that wish to meet and voice their needs, discuss experiences, overcome isolation, share feelings, lower stress and have some fun.

Through The Butterfly Foundation, Marilena creates a new concept of community service that connects all stakeholders working in the disability field to improve the lives and living conditions of those with disabilities.
