Through her organization WELADNA, Fatma Azmy designs and manufactures eco-friendly children’s toys that reinforce concepts of tolerance and open-mindedness. In addition to creating products which positively engage with children, Fatma has worked to integrate less privileged communities into the manufacturing process, providing a healthy and flexible work environment.
A mother of two, Fatma founded WELADNA after becoming inspired to create products that develop children, root them in their community, and connect them with the local environment. Thus, WELADNA designs and manufactures products that aim to both reflect the richness of Egypt in their content and material, and to encourage the development of children’s identities, their sense of belonging, and their sense of giving back. In doing so WELADNA believes that children will be better able to understand who they are, where they are from, and what they can be.
