Ahmed Moneer

Synergos Social Entrepreneur & Founder, Dar Cultural Centre

Ahmed Moneer is the founder of Dar Cultural Centre, an organization dedicated to sustainable development on the island of Dahab, located in the center of Cairo. Despite its location, the island is severely lacking in public services, from schools to hospital to basic infrastructure, and as a result the isolated population has become increasingly marginalized.

Having learned about Dahab through his involvement with Enactus at Cairo University, Ahmed established Dar to combat the trio of issues facing the island’s inhabitants: unemployment, substandard healthcare, and poor education. Firstly, the center provides workshops combining economic and cultural development to help women and youth gain greater financial stability. The center also functions as a school, working towards eradicating illiteracy and providing broader educational opportunities to the people of Dahab. Finally, Dar helps organize mobile health clinics and establish permanent health centers, aiming to address the health problems common in the community.

Through this three-pronged attack, Dar Cultural Center is providing vital services to a previously overlooked part of the capital.
