The program comprises 22 exceptional social innovators who, according to Synergos, “are each transforming a powerful idea into a growing social venture – in fields such as education, microenterprise, youth employment, arts and culture, environmental protection, civic engagement, and peace building.”

These innovators come from Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, and Palestine and represent the vast and growing pool of entrepreneurial energy and talent in the Arab world.

His Excellency’s appointment is based on his renowned vision, his history of community support, a reputation for leadership, and interest and involvement in supporting social entrepreneurs in the Arab world.

Shiekh Al Qassimi says “I wish to thank Synergos, and I hope to be able to help these exceptional Arab innovators in providing much needed support to the region, the economy, and building a framework for success for decades to come.”

The program is part of Synergos' broader, long-term effort to empower leaders and organizations in the Arab World to strengthen the capacity of civil society to help meet the needs of those who are poor and marginalized.

Robert H. Dunn, president and CEO of Synergos, shares the Shiekh's enthusiasm at the appointment. “We are honored by His Excellency's acceptance of this position, and anticipate that the addition of such a qualified and experienced person to the Arab World Social Innovators Program will help us build on our existing network and provide inspiration and encouragement to young Arab innovators, to strive together towards Synergos’ goal – the reduction and eventual eradication of poverty.”

“Shiekh Tariq brings more than 20 years of experience in the private and public sector and has earned a reputation as a trusted and respected leader. Equally important, he shares our passion for these issues and for continuing our vision to build a great culture at the program,” Dunn added.
