Southern Africa has experienced heavy rains that have displaced over 300,000 people, including many in Mozambique, and the rains are continuing. Synergos' long-term partner in that country, the Foundation for Community Development, is appealing for international support to help the people directly affected by this disaster. Narciso Matos, Executive Director of the FDC, reports:

"We have floods again, especially in the central provinces along the Zambezi and Save Rivers, but now also moving down South along the Sabie and Limpopo Rivers. The only difference is that as a country we are now best organized to weather this situation than we were in years past.

Still, thousands, if not more than a million, people are displaced and have lost their houses virtually all their possessions. Thus, any support in money or kind -- clothes, food, medicines, etc. -- is necessary. Even some army units are already involved in rescuing stranded populations."

Heavy rains predicted for February will increase the need.

The FDC is working with other local organizations, and the government of Mozambique to help. Please give to help the response.
